We care about our community and believe no one should have to suffer through being cold in winter or hot in the summer. We want everyone to be comfortable in their homes and businesses.

Our repair services include heat pumps and furnaces that keep your home warm in the winter and serve as an important part of your air conditioning system in the summer. With the seasons changing, it’s important to have a professional inspect your furnace.

In a furnace, gas or oil is combusted in a burner and then heat produced from that reaction passes through a heat exchanger where it is transferred to the air distribution system.

The ductwork throughout a home carries and disperses the conditioned air and the flue or vent pipe releases the byproducts, such as carbon dioxide and water vapor, outside the home.

Types of Furnaces

Here are a few things to keep in mind about furnaces:

  • Gas Furnace. Burning fuel generates fumes. In well-maintained gas furnaces, the fumes generated are enclosed in the exchanger and then exit the house through an exhaust vent. Remember, a gas furnace must be checked by a qualified heating contractor at least once a year.
  • The Electric Furnace operates at a higher cost than a gas furnace.
  • Electric furnaces do not use flames so they do not generate carbon monoxide.
  • The electric furnace is cleaner and safer than a gas furnace.

Repairing Your Furnace, Call South Home Air

Your furnace or boiler could likely benefit from an upgrade or repair, especially if it is an older unit.

Furnaces and boilers should be cleaned at least once a year. In addition to removing accumulated debris, this allows the furnace repair technician to spot other issues and fix them before they become bigger problems!

During the inspection, we will turn on the furnace for you so that if there is a malfunction or some other problem we will be there to see it and fix it. We will also change your air filters and recommend any maintenance or preventative actions you may need.

A few of the issues we would check your furnace for are holes, leaks or cracks. A break or crack in the furnace lets carbon monoxide seep into your house or place of business.

Effective and efficient home heating is important for the comfort and healthy functioning of a household, and a good furnace is part of that package.  Just as important is finding someone who can maintain any brand of system. Our experts at South Home Air can handle any issues you have.
